Gupi Gayen Bagha Bayen (Bengali: গুপ গইন বঘ বইন Gupi Gain Bagha Bain) is a 1969 Indian fantasy adventure comedy film written and directed by Satyajit Ray and based on a story by his grandfather Upendrakishore Ray Chowdhury. It is a fantasy-musical film, with the music and lyrics written by Ray himself. This is the first film of the "Goopy-Bagha" series, followed by a couple of sequels - Hirak Rajar Deshe was released in 1980 and Goopy Bagha Phire Elo, written by Ray but directed by his son Sandip Ray, was released in 1992.

The film follows the adventures of Gopinath Gyne alias Goopy (Tapen Chatterjee), the son of a poor grocer from a village called Amloki, who wants to become a singer but sings terribly. He is exiled from his village for disturbing the king's sleep with his awful singing and meets Bagha Bayen (Rabi Ghosh), another exile from a nearby village who plays the drum badly. They encounter a group of ghosts who are fascinated by their music and grant them three boons: they can get food and clothes whenever they need by clapping their hands, they can travel anywhere by wearing magic slippers and clapping their hands, and they can mesmerize anyone with their music. They use their boons to travel to different kingdoms and get involved in various adventures, such as preventing a war between two brothers, rescuing a princess, and defeating an evil sorcerer.
The film is considered one of Ray's masterpieces and one of the best Bengali films ever made. It is also one of the most popular and beloved films in India, especially among children. The film has been praised for its originality, humor, imagination, social satire, and musical score. The film won several awards, including the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Bengali and the Golden Lotus Award for Best Director. The film was also selected as the Indian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 42nd Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee.
