Black Girl Youth in Sports

BGYIS.png

Studies show that the sooner girls start sports, sports-related activities, or team athletics, the higher their chances are of having more access to educational and career opportunities and healthier lives as adults. Though opportunities for girls in sports have increased, Black girls face disproportionate barriers to starting sports. We want to ensure that girls from communities of color have the support, engagement, and increased visibility to begin sports at a young age and maintain their athletic careers if they so choose. We believe that all young girls in Prince George's County deserve the support, empowerment, and opportunity to participate in athletics.

To date we have supported four different girls high school sports teams in various capacities across Prince George's County and are looking to expand our program in the coming months
